Management Practices Review
I.T. expense is a function of the policies and practices in eight major areas. These include governance, staffing, technology procurement, architecture, standards, methodology, policies and controls. Having the best practices in each of these areas over the long term correlates to the lowest cost, highest value I.T. performance. While much of the existing operational cost an organization incurs is a function of past management practices and decisions, getting these right today can help ensure optimal future performance.
In this type of engagement, we assess performance in each of the aforementioned areas. We look not only at whether the practice exists, but make as assessment of how well it is being executed. We then construct a management practices' performance grid that readily identifies weaknesses by category, clearly illustrating the percent of optimal performance. With this rating, we know where to focus improvement attention and can use it as a benchmark to show progress being made.
IT Development Standards & Process Implementation
The installation of appropriate systems development standards and management processes is critically important to drive optimized value and performance. Having the right standards in place and processes to ensure adherence to them can dramatically affect development and support costs as well as the consumption of hardware, data storage and network resource. This initiative ensures that the organization is tuned for maximum I.T. performance by ensuring the optimal standards and processes are defined and in place.
